It’s really easy to make your own, plus you can avoid the refined sugars (or worse sugar substitutes), milk solids, artificial flavors, preservatives and other additives often added to keep the milk and coffee from separating.

You can add your favorite collagen powder or protein powder and enjoy on the go in the morning when you need a pick-me-up but without the guilt.

What is A Mocha Frappe Made Of?

A mocha frappe is a creamy and delicious cold coffee and chocolate beverage. The ones that you buy from your favorite coffee shop are more often or not loaded with refined sugar, so as enjoyable as they are, they aren’t great to have every day! This mocha frappe recipe is only made with natural ingredients and is a lot lower in calories.

How to Make This Paleo Mocha Frappe Drink

It’s really simple to make this mocha frappe drink (or homemade frappaccino).

1. Get your ingredients together.

2. Add 1/2 cup your favorite coffee chilled or room temperature and 2 cups of ice into a blender.

3. Add 1/4 cup coconut milk or full-fat milk if you can have dairy to the blender.

4. Add 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract to the blender.

5. Add 2 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup or coconut sugar to the blender.

6. Put the top on the blender and blend until the ice has pureed.

7. Pour iced coffee into two tall glasses and top with coconut whipped cream.

8. Add a dash of cinnamon powder if you like and enjoy!

Variations for This Recipe

If you’re not Paleo, but just want a real food mocha frappe recipe without the refined sugar, you can use whole milk and regular whipped cream.

To make it vegan, substitute the honey for maple or coconut sugar.

Is There Caffeine in a Frappe Drink?

A frappe is coffee based, so it naturally contains caffeine. If you are sensitive to caffeine, you can use a decaffeinated variety for your base of this drink. Similarly, if you need an extra boost of caffeine to get you going in the morning, then opt for a rich blend.

Low Calorie Homemade Mocha Frappe Recipe

One serving of my homemade mocha frappe contains a third of the amount of one you would pick up from Starbucks!
