If you haven’t tried lemon essential oil in your home yet, you are missing out. It’s great for cleaning nearly every surface of the home, purifying the air and has a fantastic refreshing scent. I often just uncap the bottle and smell the invigorating aroma. It literally feels like a fresh-cut lemon right under your nose.

So did you know that Lemon essential oil is derived from the rind of lemons – not the juice or the pulp? And it takes 3,000 lemons to produce 1 kilo of essential oil. Pretty amazing, right? That’s a whole lot of lemons in just one bottle of Lemon essential oil.

For this blog post, I’m going to talk about topical and aromatic uses for Lemon essential oil. Remember with all citrus essential oils, if you use them topically (on the skin) they can make your skin photo-sensitive in the sun. I personally would avoid direct sunlight on any area of my skin where I applied any citrus essential oil. If you’re looking to use it for dietary purposes, check out Lemon Vitality essential oil from Young Living. It’s the exact same oil but the bottle has been labeled for dietary use.

  1. I LOVE the smell of lemon. Besides smelling like summer, it smells clean to me, so it’s no surprise it has so many uses! I’ve really been wanting to get into EO’s, but they’re SO expensive so I want to buy them one at a time. Lemon may be my first one! Thanks for sharing <3

    1. Thanks for visiting, Savannah. Love your name BTW. Lemon EO is one of my favorites. And I can totally relate to wanting to buy one at a time, but it’s actually more expensive that way. It’s cheaper to get a starter kit. The one I got I saved about 50% off retail prices. I’ve got more info at https://dontmesswithmama.com/oils about the starter kit and the freebies you’ll get too. Plus, I can show you how to get the starter kit for free. Email me at tracey@dontmesswithmama.com to learn more.
