Ditch the store-bought electrolyte popsicles that are full of sugar and artificial ingredients. Homemade electrolyte popsicles are cheaper and easy to make.
Homemade Electrolyte Popsicles
Cold and flu season is here. Are you looking for healthy alternatives to those electrolyte drinks and popsicles in the store – which are usually laden with artificial colors and ingredients? Then, keep reading to learn how to make homemade electrolyte popsicles that taste better (and cost way less) than Pedialyte.
I created this recipe for my own kids. For many years in my family, we experienced colds, flu and the stomach flu during the winter. And it NEVER failed – my oldest son would always get the stomach flu.
It took many years for us to figure out that gluten was the culprit for his stomach issues (read about our story with his health issues and my husband too), but I’m happy to say he no longer gets the stomach flu.
Help Soothe Your Stomach With Electrolyte Popsicles
But during those times when my son did get sick I found that homemade electrolyte drinks and popsicles helped to soothe his stomach. He loathed taking the store-bought electrolyte drink. It was syrupy and too salty. So I made my own homemade electrolyte drink. But sometimes he couldn’t drink a lot of fluids at once.
So I came up with this electrolyte popsicle recipe so my son could take fluids slowly, yet still feel like he’s getting a treat. I have two recipes below – one is citrus and the other is cherry.
I like to have both on hand depending on my kids’ preference – one loves the citrus, and the other prefers the cherry. Cherry juice (black cherry and tart cherry) is packed full of antioxidants – perfect when kids are not feeling well.
