Want to make your own essential oil blend?
Creating a customized essential oil blend is a bit of an art and science. There’s so much more to essential oils than looking up uses in a reference book or a website, or checking out testimonials from other people.
Yes, there is science involved as essential oils have molecular compounds that can help your body at the cellular level. But there’s an art to it as well. You need to be intentional about what you want the essential oil blend to do. And listen to your body as it responds to the oils before you make the blend. This could be simply how you feel when you smell the oil itself to using a more scientific process called muscle response testing, or muscle testing. There’s great information in the book Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils by Carolyn Mein that I refer to on muscle testing tutorials and how to address specific emotions.
In a nutshell, muscle testing is a way of finding out what your body needs – specifically the essential oils that your body needs – when you make an essential oil blend.
You’ll learn a lot more in this video tutorial. But first things to consider as you make your customized essential oil blend.
How to Make Your Own Essential Oil Blend with Muscle Testing
1. What is your goal with this blend?
Think about what you are trying to accomplish. Do you want better sleep? Do you want to feel more energized? Are you trying to address a specific emotion to let it go and move on? Be intentional about what you want to do with the oils.
2. What is the feeling you want to get from this blend?
Do you want to feel good? Do you want to feel happy? Do you want to feel relaxed? Think about the feeling you want to accomplish. Close your eyes and try to connect with your body to address exactly what you want to feel.
3. Close your eyes and intuitively choose the oils that you need.
Think about the connection you have with the oils. Let your fingers glide over the oil bottles. Are you drawn to any particular oils? Or are there oils that are sticking out in your mind – almost like they are jumping out at you in thought. Choose those and try muscle testing to see what your body needs.
