About the Ingredients

  • Olive Oil: This is the base of the vinaigrette dressing. It has a smooth, rich texture that balances out the acid of the rice vinegar.
  • Rice Vinegar: With a slightly sweet flavor, rice vinegar is a light complement to the olive oil and pairs nicely with the fresh orange juice.
  • Orange Juice: With a tangy sweetness, freshly-squeezed orange juice helps to bring all the flavors together and will make this dressing pair well with salads that have citrus in it.
  • Honey: This natural sweetener helps to tone down the tanginess of the rice vinegar and orange juice.
  • Salt: Use to your own taste.
  • Pepper: Use to your own taste.

Variations and Substitutions

  • You can use bottled orange juice instead of fresh orange juice. But I do recommend freshly squeezed orange juice if possible. Other citrus juice that could work are grapefruit juice, tangerine juice, or blood orange juice.
  • Replace the olive oil with avocado oil if you prefer.
  • Swap out rice vinegar for balsamic vinegar or even apple cider vinegar.
  • Instead of honey, you could try maple syrup.

How to Store Leftovers

Store any leftover Honey Citrus Dressing in an airtight glass container in the fridge. It should last 2-3 weeks, but it’ll taste best if used before then.

Serving Suggestions

  • Use this Honey Citrus Vinaigrette over mixed salad greens, sliced fruit, and chopped nuts for a delicious and refreshing salad or drizzle over this Summer Citrus Salad with Fig & Feta. The combination of sweet and tangy is delicious.
  • Use as a marinade for chicken, shrimp, fish, or tofu. Simply marinate your choice of protein with the dressing for at least 30 minutes. The acidity of the orange juice will help to tenderize the meat and add more flavor.
  • Use this citrus vinaigrette as a glaze for grilled vegetables or kebabs. The natural sugars in the honey will caramelize and the flavors in the dressing will elevate the dish.
