Both my husband and I worked, so we took our kids to daycare at 8 am, then picked them up at 5:30 pm… followed by a quick dinner and bedtime by 7:30 pm. I basically saw my kids for maybe 2-3 hours on weekdays. It was the worst. I literally felt like my time with them was passing by and someone else was raising them. By the time my third son was born, I knew I didn’t want to continue all that on.

7 Ways to Make Money as a Stay-at-Home Mom Without Getting a Job

1. Resell Clothes

Do you love to shop? Got an eye for fashion. Then you definitely need to consider putting those skills to use. There are so many places online where you can resell clothes, jewelry and other items. You can sell items through eBay, Amazon’s Marketplace, Poshmark, etc. You can even sell the items you no longer use to get started. Turn around and use the money you make to reinvest in more items. Soon, you’ll have a thriving resell business.

2. Start an Essential Oil Business

This is my FAVORITE way to earn money as a stay-at-home mom. Why? Because you could easily start earning an income right away just sharing essential oils and how you use them with friends. I personally do this full-time yet I work part-time hours and brought my husband home too (he was able to leave his full-time job). It’s really easy and there isn’t a huge start-up either. In fact, the only thing you need is a premium starter kit. Use the oils and use my system for sharing with others that will get you those sign-ups. 3. Make Crafts to Sell

If you love to craft, why not turn that passion into an Etsy store? The key is to make several products before you open your store. That way, you have enough inventory. If an online shop doesn’t sound appealing, you can also sell your crafts through craft fairs.

4. Sell Photographs

If you love to take pictures and constantly find your camera loaded down with great shots, why not sell your photos? There are websites like Shutterstock and Dreamstime that will allow you to continue making revenue over and over again for one photo. This may not be something that turns into a full-time income, but it can allow you to turn your passion into extra money.

5. Start a Vlog

YouTube can be so fulfilling for stay-at-home moms. Not only does it give you the chance to meet other moms, but you can do something you’re passionate about. You may vlog about being a stay-at-home mom, do cooking videos, or even show other stay-at-home moms how to save money.

You can earn money on YouTube in a couple of ways:

1. Advertising fees (play ads in your video and you’ll earn commissions)
2. Affiliate earnings – promote products in your videos and tell viewers where to buy them

Be sure to set up some affiliate accounts with Amazon Associates and recommend a product like vitamins and tell them where to buy it on Amazon or other products that support your YouTube channel niche. For instance, if you vlog about natural living, then align yourself with some natural living companies like the Berkey water filter and talk about that in your videos.

6. Write an e-Book or Articles

Love writing? Or maybe you used to write in a former job? You could self-publish an e-book on a topic that you enjoy (e.g. Paleo desserts) and then sell it on Amazon via Kindle Direct Publishing. You don’t even need a blog or website to do it. Or you can sell articles to other bloggers, websites, or even companies as a ghostwriter. A great way to promote yourself as a ghost writer or article writer is starting a profile on Upwork. It’s a website that connects talent (like writers) and people or companies who are looking for talent. I’ve used it myself to hire help for my blog.

7. Become a Virtual Assistant

There is a HUGE need for virtual assistants. Companies and even individual people hire virtual assistants to do everything from check email to book travel arrangements to do admin office work. The best thing about a virtual assistant job is that it can be done anywhere and the hours are flexible. Start a profile on Upwork and list any special skills you might have, like writing, photo editing, customer service, etc.
