Have you ever heard of laptop radiation?

I never gave laptop radiation much thought until recently. You see, I work exclusively from my laptop computer. And for much of the day, it is literally in my lap as I type. Convenient for working? Definitely. Hazardous to my health? Keep reading to find out more…

What is Laptop Radiation?

So much of what we do today is centered around the electronics we use – laptops, tablets, cell phones, e-readers, and other electronic devices. While they are convenient to use and make working (or anything) on-the-go easy, there’s a potential health risk there: electromagnetic fields (EMFs) – which also include radio frequency (RF) radiation from WiFi and Bluetooth as well.

We carry these electronic devices everywhere we go – including our purses, backpacks, diaper bags, pockets, etc. And we use those electronic devices about 11 hours a day. Think about the kids who use electronic devices every day too.

And in the case of laptops, we often work with them directly on our lap or on a table right above our lap.

What Are the Health Risks of Laptop Radiation and Electromagnetic Radiation (EMF)?

There are a lot of health risks with laptop radiation or electromagnetic radiation (EMR) on the body. Here’s just a few:

1. It can burn the skin

Heat from the laptop can cause what’s know as toasted skin syndrome – a mottled brownish skin discoloration that develops due to the heat that radiates from a laptop. I’ve definitely felt the heat from my laptop before and never thought much about it. But that heat can cause a burn (toasted skin syndrome) with a temperature as low as 109 degrees.

It’s scary to think something that I work on every day could be hazardous to my health. OR MY KIDS. They work on their laptops all the time.

2. It can cause headaches and sleep issues

Ever get a headache while on the computer? Or have trouble sleeping after working on a laptop for a prolonged period?

EMF radiation from laptops and the WiFi used for Internet has been linked to chronic headaches, dizziness and sleep disorders. Learn more about computer headaches.

3. It is associated with a 6-fold increase in the risk of miscarriage

As scary as that sounds, it’s important for pregnant women and those trying to get pregnant to avoid EMF exposure as prolonged use of laptops, computers and mobile phones have been associated with a 6-fold increase in the risk of miscarriage (read more in this study).

4. It has been linked to infertility in men, deformed testes, and even erectile dysfunction

Several studies have confirmed that exposure to laptop radiation was linked to decreased male fertility.

“To our knowledge, this is the first study to evaluate the direct impact of laptop use on human spermatozoa. Ex vivo exposure of human spermatozoa to a wireless internet-connected laptop decreased motility and induced DNA fragmentation by a nonthermal effect. We speculate that keeping a laptop connected wirelessly to the internet on the lap near the testes may result in decreased male fertility. Further in vitro and in vivo studies are needed to prove this contention,” according to a study published in Sterility and Fertility in January 2012.

Men, take note that you’re at a huge risk for reproductive issues from laptop radiation – including deformed testes and erectile dysfunction. So if you want to keep your manhood intact, keep reading to find out what you can do.

5. It has been linked to an increase in cancer and disease in general

I think many of us have read the news reports of

What Can You Do to Reduce Laptop Radiation?

You’ve probably seen those laptop trays or cooling pads in stores. While those pads and trays may help with heat radiation, it does NOTHING for electromagnetic radiation (EMF).

That’s why I love DefenderPad. It’s an all-in-one laptop radiation and heat shield that’s light and portable. If fits into the laptop bag and can be used anywhere – even on the go.

What makes DefenderPad unique is that it eliminates virtually ALL electromagnetic radiation (EMR), including

  • Extremely low frequency (ELF) radiation – such as radiation emitted from hard drives, processors etc.
  • Radio frequency (RF) radiation – like WiFi and Bluetooth
  • Heat radiation

DefenderPad has been FCC-certified lab tested to protect against both EMR and heat emitted from laptops, tablets and other electronic devices.

And best of all DefenderPad can help to protect against skin burns (and toasted skin syndrome), fertility issues with men and women, and other serious health issues. Plus, they have other EMF shield you can get for your cell phone and Universal Tablet & iPad Compatible Radiation Shield – EMF Protection Case Compatible with up to 7-8 Tablets Including iPad Mini, Nexus 7, and Galaxy 7iPad or table.
