I don’t know about you but weekday mornings are hectic around here. It’s usually me or my husband in a mad rush to get the kids dressed, teeth brushed, lunches made and breakfast eaten in 45 minutes to get the kids to school on time. It’s really important to me that the kids eat a home-cooked breakfast rather than fill up on sugary cereals or cereal bars.

That’s why I’m loving this Instant Pot Oatmeal. It’s so easy to make – in fact, I just the ingredients in the Instant Pot and let it cook while I’m getting the kids ready in the morning or making lunches.

Making Oatmeal In An Instant Pot

Wait, what?! You can make Instant Pot oatmeal? Yes! It’s so easy and with this recipe it’ll be rich and creamy. So what’s so special about the Instant Pot? It’s a 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Cooker – including a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, saute/browning, yogurt maker, steamer and warmer. Plus, it has a stainless steel cooking pot and steam rack. It does so much in one little kitchen appliance.

Toppings For You Instant Pot Oatmeal

Just set out all the fixings – like walnuts, almonds, flaxseed, hempseed, honey, maple syrup, raisins, apple chunks, fresh berries, or slices of banana – and let everyone help themselves.

I love to put some bacon in the oven to cook while the Instant Pot oatmeal is cooking so they kids have extra protein too.

How to Make Gluten-Free Instant Pot Oatmeal

This gluten-free Instant Pot oatmeal is really easy to make. You can choose to cook the oatmeal in a small cooking dish or even just in the inner stainless steel pot (if you do this skip the trivet). The trick is to spray the dish or the inner pot (whichever will contain the oatmeal) with cooking spray (I really like coconut oil cooking spray) so the oatmeal doesn’t stick to the pan.

The other option is you can use water instead of milk in this recipe. I find that milk makes it creamier, whereas the water comes out more like traditional oatmeal. It’s totally up to you. I like it both ways.

Then just layer the ingredients into the dish or pot and cook according to the recipe. Once it’s done, stir well and add to a bowl and top with your favorite toppings, like fresh fruit, maple syrup, walnuts, etc.
