Kids Lunch Box Ideas: Gluten-Free Ham Roll-Ups - Don't Mess with Mama

It’s time for Eco Lunch Box Wednesdays. This week, I’ve got a simple ham roll-up lunch box. My kids never liked tortilla roll-ups even when they used to eat gluten. They much prefer just ham and cheese rolled up by itself. The Rosemary Ham at Trader Joe’s is nitrate-free and so delicious. It’s a great source of protein. I included some rice crackers but these can be replaced with any gluten-free snack or omit them entirely for a paleo-friendly kids lunch box.

I always freeze organic yogurt either in disposable squeezable serving sizes (yes, I know DISPOSABLE – I do try to avoid it when I can) or reusable silicone tube containers (like Kinderville Little Bites Ice Pop Molds which have a tight seal), so I can include it in my boys’ lunch boxes. Because the yogurt tubes are frozen, they keep the rest of the lunch cool so I usually don’t pack an ice pack that day and by the time lunch comes around the yogurt is still cold yet unfrozen.

What’s inside:

  • Trader Joe’s squeezable yogurt
  • Sliced organic Gala apples spritzed with fresh lemon to keep it from browning
  • Organic baby carrots
  • Ham roll-ups (Trader Joe’s nitrate-free Rosemary ham and cheddar cheese rolled up together)
  • A handful of rice and sesame crackers
