Anyone who really knows me would say that getting a psychic reading is one of the last things I’d ever do – even as a joke with a tarot reader on a card table in Balboa Park. It’s just not me. I’m all about facts – I’m skeptic of all things New Age-y (yes, I am making up that word). I even groan through the meditation chants in yoga.
Then about a month ago my 18-year-old nephew got a psychic reading. I started to lecture him about being skeptical about it but then he said something really profound to me. He told me he thought of it as a guidance from a non-partial third party rather than fortune telling about the future. It was such a unique way of looking at it, and then I forgot about it.
Just last week I had an opportunity to do a psychic reading with Shawn from DivineKnowing.com. At first I brushed it off, and then I thought about my nephew and said why not. I was trying to keep an open mind.
I called Shawna to book an appointment. She takes appointments via phone or in-person in San Marcos (North Inland San Diego). For our phone meeting, Shawna took a minute to channel her spirit guide (her voice even changed a bit) and she told me a few tidbits about myself. She was spot on about my love for the summer season and how much my family enjoys the warm weather. She told me a bit about myself (all true) and then left it open for questions.
I started out asking about my husband’s health, and, wow, she knew everything about my husband without me giving away anything. But more than that she was able to tell me how he was feeling and gave me some advice on how to help him.
Then, I asked her about my kids. I didn’t want to know their future – I’d rather not get influenced by “what if” – so I asked how I could help to support and nurture my kids. I couldn’t believe how well she was able to describe each of them – like to a tee. I literally didn’t say anything about my kids or their background other than I had three boys. It was amazing how well she described them. And she gave me some great advice about how to work with each of them. Some of it I already knew but it was a great reminder, but there were a few other things that were new and enlightening to me.
We talked about a few other things and again, she was spot on and gave me great advice. I’d say my only regret is that I wish I asked a few other questions. I was so busy asking about everyone close to me that I didn’t really ask for advice for myself. Typical mom complex.
When the session was over, Shawna stopped channeling and resumed her normal voice. She told me that she’d send me a CD of my session (which I received just 5 days later in the mail). I look forward to listening to it to find out if I missed anything during our call.
Honestly, I wouldn’t hesitate to call Shawna again. It’s so weird for me to say – considering I was such a skeptic. But really thinking about her reading as guidance rather than an ominous reading into my future made it easier for me to accept. Maybe I just need to break into this in baby steps.
And since my reading, I’ve been talking to everyone I know about her. I think I’m a convert.

I had a tarot reading earlier this year that was spot on. Many years ago, I did a palm reading. I wouldn’t hesitate to get a psychic reading either, although I’ve never had one. I find this kind of guidance interesting and helpful every once in a while and I’m always blown away by the insight I receive.

I have always believed in psychic readings and have had many. A trusted well known psychic is the way to go as I have had some bone-head readings in my life. The best psychic reading I ever had was the one that told me I would fall in love in San Diego.
I now see a tarot card reader regularly in Los Cabos. She is amazing and I really value the information that she shares with me. I see her a third time this year at the end of this month. I love your nephews perspective and agree wholeheartedly which is what I take away from any reading I receive. I am glad you had such a great first time reading. I may even contact Shawna just for comparison purposes.
Interesting, I’ve had readings done and many have been spot on. It kind of scares me in a way how accurate they can be. But I can see how they can also help to guide you as well.
