Car Seat Review: Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40

graco logoEarlier this week, I had the opportunity to review and test-drive the Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40.

A BIG thanks to Graco® and SITS Girls for the opportunity to review this car seat. And a huge thank you to Tiffany Romano and Theresa Seid (RockonMommies) for hosting the home party. Theresa was a gracious host, and Tiffany provided so much information about the car seat that I couldn’t wait to give it a try.

And all I can say is wow – where was this car seat 5 and 7 years ago when my older kids were babies?

I’m so excited I had the chance to try this car seat because my littlest guy is now 13 months and getting too big for his infant car seat, yet not big enough for a convertible car seat. In fact, unlike my first two boys who were turned forward-facing around a year old, I’m keeping my son’s car seat rear facing much longer.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2 because toddler are more than FIVE TIMES SAFER riding rear facing in a car seat. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.

The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 is the first and only newborn to two-year infant car seat that actually grows with your baby from 4 to 40 pounds. And it still features the detachable base, which makes transporting baby a snap – especially when he’s sleeping. That was always my favorite feature (other than safety) of the Graco SnugRide: portability.

The Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 in two styles: Moonstruck (boys or gender neutral) and Mena (girls style but not overly girly, the fabric is gorgeous).

Here’s what Moonstruck looks like:

In addition, the base adjusts to 8 different positions to give baby the most leg room. When the baby gets older he can put his feet on the footpad of the base. Check out the adorable footprint imprints. I could see my 13-month old tap dancing on the foot pad.

The other really cool features of this car seat is the Simply Safe Adjust Harness. Those of you with older kids will relate… Remember when your baby outgrows the harness in the car seat and you have to remove the straps and rethread it through the car seat? It was a pain, right? It always took me a few times to get it right. You never have to worry about it with the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40. The harness can be adjusted easily in the back of the car seat – no re-threading needed. Hallelujah!

Other features of the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40:

  • 5-point harness system for safety
  • LATCH-enabled base that stays in the car and makes installation a snap
  • Head support for newborns that can easily be removed when baby gets older
  • Compatible with all Graco Click Connect strollers as a travel system
  • Excellent safety standards – this is what sold me on Graco SnugRides nearly 8 years ago when my first son was born
