Since we got back from Hawaii a few months ago, my 5 year old has been dry at night in his underwear. It’s such a relief now that he’s fully potty trained – no more Pull-Ups for us! Well, not for another few years when baby boy (who’s now 8 months) is ready for potty training.
While we were in Hawaii I forgot to pack our waterproof pad, so I had to make a DIY version with cut up trash bags and towels. It wasn’t pretty. And really it wasn’t effective either. I couldn’t find reusable waterproof pads in the stores, and my son was leaking nearly every night. Plus, he would start in his own bed and then eventually come to our bed – so I had to makeshift a DIY pad for two beds. Oh the things we do for these bedwetters.
It was a mess. But the folks at GoodNites® (who make disposable overnight pants for kids) now have disposable Bed Mats. These mats are cool because they have an adhesive on the back that help them stay put on the sheet (or under the sheet if you prefer). That was the biggest problem with my DIY version with trash bags – it kept bunching up and it got hot under the sheet.
While I encourage using reusable waterproof pads for everyday use to be more eco-friendly, I think the GoodNites Bed Mats are great for traveling or occasional use. And it can be reused a few times if there’s no potty mess. Bed Mats are available in one size, and each mat measures 2.5 feet by 3 feet and is designed to fit twin beds.

I have a child who occasionally wets his bed still, so this would come in handy! And LOL at the makeshift mattress protector… although I’m sure you weren’t laughing at the time
