So normally I like to get my kids outside to play for their free time. I like them to be out exploring nature, riding their bikes, or playing with their neighborhood friends. But it’s not always possible – like when one of my kids is sick and I need to entertain the healthy kid. Or when it’s raining outside – oh man, I hate rainy days because my kids bounce off the walls with all their energy.
I love games like DanceDanceRevolution because it gets my kids moving, plus even me and my husband will join in to school the boys on some of our old moves. Uh – does anyone remember the running man and the cabbage patch? I’m totally dating myself here.
My 5- and 7-year old boys were excited to try out DanceDanceRevolution. Honestly, I had never really played it before. So we went through the menu and found that there were lots of song choices – from club music to slow, mellow songs. We had to start with the slow songs because my kids couldn’t keep up otherwise. So if you’re kids are younger than 5 years of age, then this probably isn’t the best dance game for you. It seems ideal for about 10 years of age and older, but my boys still had fun. They keep asking to dance again.
KONAMI is offering DanceDanceRevolution II (DDR II) video game for Wii with the footpad controller to one of my lucky readers. It features more than 80 music tracks from pop hits like Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars and Rocket by Goldfrapp. View a partial song list. On workout mode, the game even tracks calories burned, duration and intensity of exercise for players.

I received a copy of DanceDanceRevolution to try out but these opinions are entirely my own.
