Yes, my 6 year old son asked me that. Why? Ok, I admit it. After I downloaded some old-school Michael Jackson songs – like Thriller and PYT – I let my boys watch a couple of the music videos on YouTube. I forgot that the Thriller video is a little scary with Michael Jackson turning into first a werewolf and then a zombie later in the video.
So, ever since then my son thinks that when people die they become zombies. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because he also thought Santa was a vampire since he’s nocturnal. Considering my love of supernatural romance books I shouldn’t be surprised my son is into zombies and vampires too.
When we pass by a graveyard or a roadside memorial with flowers and a cross, he thinks zombies will come out at night. He’s been so convincing, my 4 year old then chimes in and says he doesn’t want to become a zombie when he dies.
I’ve explained to them that’s not quite what happens. But they’re not convinced yet. Though after what the CDC posted today about being prepared for a zombie apocalypse, maybe he’s on to something. Apparently, the CDC’s blog website got so many visits to their post on zombies it caused their servers to crash.
ThinkGeek posted a zombie survival guide in response – I bet my son will get a kick out of all the zombie gear.
So word to the wise: Don’t show the Thriller video to your kids unless you want to have a chat about the zombie afterlife.

Way too funny and way too cute!! Note taken, I will not let my 6 year old watch the Thriller video!! Thanks for a very fun post!
Thanks for stopping by. My kids love MJ so I should probably screen the PYT music video next.
